BOTANICAL CASTING AT COUGHTON COURT
Discover the art of botanical casting in the beautiful surroundings of Coughton Court. Using flowers and foliage gathered from the historic gardens, you’ll learn step by step how to capture their delicate details in your own handcrafted plaster plaque.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We’ll begin with a private garden tour led by Coughton Court’s Head Gardener, who’ll share the history of the gardens and introduce you to the seasonal planting. Along the way, you’ll gather flowers and foliage to use in your design.
Back in the courtyard workshop space, Annabel, co-owner of Honeybourne Pottery, will guide you through the casting process. With a demonstration and plenty of support throughout, you’ll learn to prepare and roll your clay, arrange and press your flowers to capture their shapes and textures, then mix and pour the plaster.
While your cast sets (around 40 minutes), there’s time to visit the café for refreshments or enjoy a little more time in the grounds.
Then comes the reveal — gently peeling away the clay to uncover the intricate details of your flowers and foliage, preserved in a beautiful botanical plaque to take home.
