POTTER’S WHEEL TASTER | 1.5 HOURS | £65 pp

Discover the potter’s wheel in this hands-on taster workshop for complete beginners (ages 7+). You’ll learn the basics of wheel throwing, build confidence with clay, and shape your own simple pots from start to finish. Suitable for individuals, couples, or groups, this is a relaxed introduction focused on learning and experimentation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

After a warm welcome, the workshop begins with a full demonstration from one of our potters, who will guide you through the key stages of throwing on the wheel. You’ll then move onto your own wheel and begin practising with step-by-step guidance and support as you learn the basic techniques.

As you work with the clay, you’ll learn how to centre, open, and shape a simple form, developing control and confidence as you go. Pottery takes practice, so it’s completely normal for early attempts to feel wobbly or even collapse — this is all part of the learning process.

With unlimited clay, you’ll have time to experiment, repeat the steps, and build confidence through practice. By the end of the session, you’ll have created a range of pieces and a clear understanding of the fundamentals of wheel throwing.

Choose your favourite pot to take home on the day, carefully boxed for transport. Additional pieces can be kept for £4 each. Pots will air dry naturally and can be painted at home for decorative use, such as display pieces, jewellery pots, or dried flower holders.
