We have many years of experience delivering accessible and fun workshops to schools and special needs groups all over the West Midlands. Our workshops provide children of all ages and abilities the chance to experiment and explore their creativity in a new way.

Clay is a flexible medium and can be incorporated easily into a wide range of curriculum or fun based activities. We can tailor workshops to your class requirements, some popular past workshops include collaborate sculptures and tile projects, ancient historic dwellings, Greek theatre masks and Egyptian canopic jars. The potential for a theme is endless!

There are 2 workshop options outlined below. Each run for approx 60-90 mins, depending on the number of children. We can take groups of approx. 20 children at our studio.

Option 1: Pot Throw & Decorate Workshop

Each child will make their very own pot on the potter's wheel & afterwards decorate their creation using coloured slips. Demonstration on how to get started, along with expert tuition is on hand throughout. The children's masterpieces will be fired & glazed at the pottery to change them into usable ceramic pieces. Pots will be ready to collect from the studio approx. 5-6 weeks later, or return of work can be arranged.

Option 2: Themed Clay Modelling Workshop

A themed session where children can enjoy hand-building a fabulous clay creation using slabbing or coiling techniques. Children can also have the chance to paint their pieces using a decorative slip. The children’s masterpiece will be left to dry thoroughly before they are fired and given a transparent glaze at the pottery. Approx. 5-6 weeks later we will notify you by email about collection or return of work can be arranged.

We supply aprons, all materials, tools etc.

Comments From Past Schools

"It has been brilliant to have been able to have visited Honeybourne Pottery for the past three years with my Y6 pupils. We have always received such a fantastic welcome and it is a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience first-hand what it is like to work in an artists' studio. The expertise on offer from Annabel and Alan is second-to-none and the children are able to produce work of the highest quality. We have linked our work to our topic on Ancient Greece and have thrown pots as well as creating theatre masks. I have been impressed by the value for money from our visit, but most importantly, the overall experience for the children. They are still talking about it now!"

"Honeybourne Pottery have been coming to Tewkesbury C of E Primary for many years, delivering many successful pottery lessons for a wide range of primary pupils. They are always willing to fit into the schools overcrowded timetable and happily deal with classes of 30+ pupils of all ability levels. I have no hesitation in recommending Honeybourne Pottery to all interested schools."
