BOTANICAL CASTING WORKSHOP
Discover the art of botanical relief casting using seasonal flowers and foliage to create your own handcrafted plaque. Guided step by step, you’ll explore the full process of composing, casting and finishing your floral plaster cast.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The workshop begins with a step-by-step demonstration, where you’ll learn how to prepare and roll clay to create a smooth base for your relief design.
You’ll then be guided through selecting and arranging flowers and foliage, learning how to press and roll them into the clay to best capture their delicate textures, shapes, and fine detail. You’re welcome to bring cuttings from your own garden for a personal touch.
Once your composition is complete, you’ll learn how to create a mould and prepare plaster for casting, including mixing and pouring techniques to achieve a successful cast.
While the plaster cures (around 30 minutes), we’ll pause for refreshments and explore finishing techniques. The final stage is the reveal — carefully peeling away the clay to uncover your botanical relief and see how your chosen flowers, textures, and forms have been captured in plaster, forming a unique piece of art to take home.
